Born from a stretch goal on Rise's Volume 2 Kickstarter for character cards, I did what I usually do, and thought, "How can I make this harder than necessary?"
So now I'm making playable trading cards.
We're still very much in the infancy stage for these cards. But we're developing rules and moving forward with plans for these cards. Including when, where, and how you get your hands on them. Below is a little more information about our plans.
kickstarter
preorders
in-person
These cards will feature art (either character art or art from the graphic novels), and will only be available via the Kickstarters. Only those that back the campaign will have access to these cards, and they will not be sold anywhere else.
These cards will feature art from the series, by any other artist we've worked with in the past. Like with the Kickstarters, these cards are only available to those that preorder books directly through me, and won't be available anywhere else.
This won't start until 2027. The plan is that I'll have cards that will only be available at in-person events. Whether it'll be every event or only certain ones has yet to be decided.

These are rough concepts and not finalized layouts, systems, etc.
Currently, the plan is to not have repeated designs, and if we do, there'll be an icon or something designating that it's a "reprinted" design. Whether cards at in-person events will be purchasable or will require a purchase to obtain as a freebie still has yet to be determined.
Likewise, foil booster packs, holographic cards, full art cards, etc. are still up in the air. We're working on designs that will allow for things like full art, but depending on the rules of the game and what the best system is, we might have to make design changes/choices that would negate things like full art.
The goal is that these will eventually be playable, and that all of the rules of the World of Tilion will apply and be useable in the game. The goal is to get the bones of the game sorted in time for both The Legends That Awaken's preorder and the Volume 2 fulfillment. My sincerest hope is that the early cards can be as rewarding as possible to those that get them and, truthfully, kinda be broken for the game. Because everyone that's supporting me this early deserves something like that.
