I've never really loved the idea of New Year's Resolutions.
I know they're trendy and all, and lots of people do them. But for me, they're just kinda...eh. Probably because I feel like the stigma of them has sullied the concept in my noggin. People make resolutions and are all gung-ho to make them reality. They stick with them for a little while, and then a few months later it's back to old habits and shrugs of apathy as if to say, "Eh, whatever. No one takes New Year's Resolutions seriously anyway."
That's probably why I've always found myself thinking "New year, same me." Sure, I'm working as best I can to pursue holiness and righteousness. Some days are better than others. It's a journey on the narrow road, and I don't expect every day to be perfect, because I'm human and I fail all the time.
But, I do have plans for 2022.
Some of them are shrouded in a great big, "Who the heck knows?!" Others are a little more tangible. And others were pretty clear until I started writing things and now they're sorta, kinda, maybe gonna happen.
But here's what I hope to accomplish in 2022, for better or worse.
I hope to write first drafts of all the novellas I want to eventually publish. (There's 7 Human-Borns, and we've only read the story of one of them. I'd like to be able to offer the other 6 soonish).
Publish book 2 of The Human-Born Era.
Continue to hone my skills as a writer and seek constructive criticism of the story as a whole.
That's about it. Like I said, there are lots of other things I would like to see come about in 2022, but, it's all wrapped in confusion and chaos and those big "I don't know"s.
So we'll see what 2022 brings, and what dedication I can pull out of it!
